Summary
of Events for No.
439 (CAN) Squadron
as
recorded in the 439 Squadron Operations Record Book
for
01
January 1944
while
stationed at Bournemouth, Hants, and Wellingore,
Lincolnshire,
England
The
pilots of the Squadron moved from Bournemouth to Wellingore all
day yesterday, arriving in Wellingore at 1830 hours. It turned
out to be a very quiet New Years' Eve, as the chaps were all
pretty tired. Today was taken up pretty well by looking around
and getting acquainted with the new surroundings. It was the
first experience for most of the pilots, of a dispersed field
and some of the comments were interesting. 35 cooks arrived
today, although no one knows quite why so many have came to this
Station as the Squadron only brought 9 from Canada. We should
eat well anyway.
