for

13 April 1944

 R.C.A.F. Funtingten, Essex, England

Pilots were awakened early this morning for an Ops show, on which they dropped 500 lb bombs on Noball Target No. 40 just north-east of "La Foret de Crecy". F/O Monson could not get his aircraft started & F/O Smith was forced to turn back just as we were crossing out because of poor oil pressure. A number of bombs were seen to explode within the target area, but two burst outside due to temporary hang-ups. A party was held last night at the Unicorn, Chichester, to enable 144 & 143 Airfields to bid each other "adieu'. About 50 officers from each airfield attended.
