 R.A.F. Hurn

Fairly good weather all day, although there was a frost in the morning which froze the water and it was quite a unique sight to see the lads breaking the ice to have a wash and shave. Nine of our aircraft took off for operations in the morning together with 438 and 440 RCAF Squadrons. The Wing attacked a bridge south of Rouen with 500 lb. bombs and direct hits were scored. No flak was encountered. F/L Dadson, one of our Flight Commanders could not make the operation due to an oil leak and low oil pressure. The remaining aircraft landed at Tangmere on the return journey to refuel. In the afternoon, nine of our aircraft participated in another operation in co-operation with 438 & 440 Squadrons. The target was a Noball, south of Deippe a few miles inland. Several direct hits were scored with 500 lb. bombs, flak was encountered but none of our aircraft were hit.
