Summary of Events for  No. 439 (CAN) Squadron

as recorded in the  439 Squadron Operations Record Book

for

11 May 1944

 R.A.F. Hurn

Very good weather all day. 439 Squadron groundcrews, together with 6439 Servicing Echelon and some 143 Airfield groundcrews plus 4 pilots of 439, left the Airfield en route to 16 APC Hutton Granswick, where the Squadron is to practice formation, Air to ground firing and bombing, and air to air firing where possible. The convoy had a good trip today, experiencing no difficulties, The party stopped at Luttworth overnight where accommodations and messing were arraigned. The local Pubs were monopolized to a small extent as well as the one and only cinema by our personnel. On the whole, the trip so far was quite enjoyable and this was largely due to the favourable weather conditions. Copies of the Movement Order are attached.
