Cloudy all day with a
strong breeze. A light intermittent drizzle in the afternoon. No
operation were carried out but there was local flying;
consisting of formation flying practice and strip landing
practice at Henfield, north of Shoreham. The Adjutant spent the
afternoon in a motorcycle tracking down evidence for
investigation on a collision between one of the 143 Wing D.R.'s
and a Bus en-route to Bournemouth, at approximately 1015 hrs.
Air
Marshall Sir Arthur Coningham, KCB, DSO, MC, FC, ARC, arrived
and delivered an informal speech to 439 Squadron and Wing

purpose which created a strong impression with the audience.
Air
Vice Marshal Broadhurst, DSO, DFC, AFC, landed here but
proceeded to Holmeley South.
