Details
of Sortie or Flight
The
target for this operation was a concentration of enemy
arms (guns and mortars) in the wood just southeast of
Thury Harcourt. The target was attacked from the South to
North from 8000 to 3000 feet in a 60 degree angle dive and
the bomb bursts were well dispersed throughout the area of
the target. A small amount of light flak was thrown up but
scored no success against our aircraft. 18 x 1000 lb.
bombs instantaneous nose and .025 tail fusing were
released and all aircraft returned home unharmed.
