R.C.A.F.
Amiens / Glisy, France
The weather was decidedly against our two vehicle convoy this
morning and was considerably attributable towards the
consistently muddy windshields. We were greeted by the populace
of Brussels like we have never been greeted before. The kissing
of both cheeks by females was a new experience, the men shook
hands, the children sought autographs and the whole throng
handed out fruit and beer to us. The Churchill
"V"
for victory sign given by the Belgians was quite prominent
throughout our travel in Belgium. Towards the late afternoon,
the weather cleared up somewhat but not sufficiently to carry
out any operations.
