Heavy
ground haze in the morning that gradually dispelled around lunch time.
The excitement for the day was provided by a Thunderbolt which pranged,
exploded and broke into a blaze, but our duty crew was right on the
spot and gave assistance that apparently left the pilot with only a
scratch on his face, but it was a close shave. Sounds like a
Gillette advertisement! The pilots beat their tom toms when Operations
advised us this afternoon that the squadron was released from
operations for the rest of the day. S/L Fiset, DFC, proceeded to
Brusssels this afternoon to attend the opening of the RCAF Officer's
Club in the Hotel Albert. F/O R.H. Laurence and F/O N.H. Rassenti
returned from England after a hectic session of leave. No operation
were on today's program.
