Wellingore,
Lincs
No
activity except a visit to Digby Ops. by "B" Flight.
Squadron organized into two flights with F/ L H.K. McAvity, O.C.
of "A" Flight and senior Flight Commander. F/L T.A.
Dadson appointed 2 i/c "A" Flight. F/L J.J. Saville
appointed Flight Commander "B" Flight, with F/L N.H.
Pollock 2 i/c.
Signal received from Air Ministry, advising
appointment of S/L W.M. Smith as C.O. of 439 Squadron. Further
information received to the effect that the Squadron would do no
flying at Wellingore, but would proceed to Ayr, where together
with 438 Squadron, it would form a wing. The health of the
Squadron is generally good, although everybody is suffering from
a cold.
