Low
heavy cloud in the morning with a stiff breeze that shook the pilots'
and office tents. Then came the heavy rain before and after lunch.
What a country for weather and fighting a war! A new pilot was posted
in from 83 GSU this morning, he is J.87748 P/O A.E. Derouin and hails
from Windsor, Ontario. F/O A.C. McBride returned from his leave in
England this morning by air and tried to make us homesick with his
chatter about night life, however, it just rolled off like water off a
duck's back. F/O N.H. Rassenti has finished his first tour of
operations with 97 sorties totalling 96:10 operational hours and
giving him a grand total of 691:20 flying hours. C.22655 F/L R.G.
Crosby came to our Squadron from 438 and will take over the reigns of
"B" Flight while J.37846 F/O J. Carr has taken command of
"A" Flight. The C.O. intimates that F/L Crosby will be the
next Squadron commander of 439.
