The
weather was extremely changeable through the day and at no time was it
sufficiently suitable for a long enough period in which to carry out
an operation. The only flying activity of the day consisted of two
A&E tests and a radio test by F/O Jack Sweeney. The recently
acquired Squadron dog "Typhie" gave birth to two little
Typhoons in the office tent. The birth was proceeded by whining and
howling but a diagnosis failed to give any reason for the dog's
malady. If the weather continues to be inclement, we were considering
the re-naming of 439 squadron to 439 Fleet. F/O B.P. Swingler was
rushed to hospital at night as he had become violently ill, but the
cause baffled the Medical Officers.
