The
rain poured down this morning as if out of a broken cloud and falling
intermittently in the afternoon, hence no flying whatsoever was
carried out. f/O R.V. Smith went to England by air whence he may be
granted a month's leave in Canada as recommended, but he is first to
report to D.P. 2, Air Ministry. A signal was received stipulating that
officers may now take a 48 hour pass to Paris where accommodation is
arrange at Hotel St James at D'Albany. Our Wing has been allotted two
vacancies per week. There are only 16 aircraft on strength today and
all are serviceable. The maintenance throughout our campaign on the
Continent has been quite high due to the good organization and
consistently hard efforts on the part of the airmen. F/L C.A. Lambert
and F/L J.A. Cote both proceeded to England by air for a week's leave.
