Before
checking anymore pilots out on Typhoons, the O.C. has decided to
give pilots already solo, another hour. Four pilots started out
on Section Tactics this morning, but didn't get very far as F/O
Johns started to taxy out, his aircraft, Hurricane 970 went up
on its nose. A new airscrew (propeller) will have to be
fitted.
The
wind was about 60 M.P.H. so they decided against flying the
Hurricanes, but 2 flights were carried out in Typhoons. Still no
flying this afternoon, but the pilots, already solo, got their
second hour on the Typhoon. S/L F.W. Kelly, DFC, arrived back
from Digby and is still awaiting word on his posting. A fourth
party was held this evening in the Anti-Room of the Mess for F/O
Victor Willing, Airfield Adjutant, who is leaving us very
shortly.
