Cloud
haze and frost in the morning, and the cloud and haze continued
throughout the day with scattered showers so that the aircraft were
grounded all day. Several violent explosions during the course of the
day were heard, two in the evening especially, sounded very close and
shook the dispersal and the Officer's Mess where the lights went out.
The cause was attributable to V-1 bombs some of which were seen in the
evening, and heard. Three aircraft were unserviceable today. Today
F/O's Jack Sweeney and Bill Davis proceeded to Brussels for a few days
leave, the remainder to be taken in England.
