R.A.F.
Station Hurn, Bournemouth, England
Weather
bad this morning. The C.O. had to take a trip to Turnhouse.
F/O's Mohegan & Henderson left on seven days leave. Pay
parade this morning at 1000 hrs. Left Dispersal at 1600 hrs. to
make ready for a Squadron party. Transport left our site at 1800
hrs. We proceeded to Bobby's Restaurant in Bournemouth, where
dinner was served for 17 pilots. Tom Dadson brought along
Norval's bottle of whiskey, which was a Christmas present to be
opened on his first "Ops".
We
drank a toast to Norv & Mac. After dinner we went to the
Barn's Club in Christchurch where we all had a very merry time.
We were honoured by the presence of G/C Devoud, DSO, DFC; W/C
Hillock, & S/L Boothby and also W/C Johnson, DSO Bar, DFC
& 2 Bars, & S/L George Hill, DFC & 2 Bars of 144
Airfield (1). Arrived back at the mess at about 2245 hrs. where the
C/O bought us all a free beer.
