R.A.F.
Station Hurn, Bournemouth, England
Today
the weather was bad with low cloud and fog, so very little
flying was done. A few Hurries were sent up towards noon on low
level cross countries. In the afternoon, we again managed to
muster all the operational Typhoons of the Airfield to put
on a Squadron Fighter sweep over Cherbourg again. The low level
form up from this Airfield was the best yet of any squadron.
S/L
Norsworthy was in command with F/O MacDonald, F/O Burton
and F/O Scharff as his Red Section, while Blue Section consisted
of F/O Hogg, Brown, and P/O Swingler with F/L Saville leading.
All pilots reported nothing, but the serenity of the skies over
Cherbourg.
At
noon "A" Echelon of the Airfield departed from Hurn by
road, to prepare our new grass field at Funtington , near
Chichester, for occupation. All Camp Kits were packed and loaded
into a 60
???
at 1930 hrs. this morning.
