commissioned 1942. Hugh Norsworthy had came overseas in the spring of 1941 and upon
completion of his O.T.U. course
was posted to No. 85 Squadron,
flying Bostons and Mosquitoes
on night-fighter and intruder work. At the end of his first tour, during
which he shared in the destruction of a No.
217. Hugh joined No. 3
Squadron on Typhoons for
another period of service, after which he had a month's leave in Canada
before returning to take over command of No.
439 an 10 March l944. Apointed
Commanding Officer of 439 Squadron 10 Mar 1944
-
14 Sep 1944. On that date he became tour expired on his second tour. Posted to BPC England for
repatriation back to Canada.
