WW II Photo Memorial to

WO John (Jack) Hugh Pinnell, CD

With rare exception, 439 spent most of its campaign under canvas. As the frontline  advanced towards Germany,  so did the Squadron.  Frequent moves were required to stay just behind the advancing bombline. Notice the motorbikes, an essential mode of transport. Difficult to see in this optimized photo, but on the original we can read TAF 83 RCAF  . What is more interesting is the warning RIGHT HAND DRIVE - NO SIGNALS  on the lift gate of the lead truck.
