The 1966
Tiger Meet was held at RAF Leuchars, Scotland from the 5th to the
8th of July.
Hosted by 74
RAF Tiger Squadron, it was marred by the tragic death of Capt Joel
Dancel of France's 1/12 Sqn. Capt Dancel was killed instantly when
his Super Mystere crashed during a practice run up to the Tiger
Meet air show. As a result the air show was to be cancelled, but the
pilots of 1/12 felt that Capt Dancel would have wanted the show to go
on. Instead all National flags were flown at half mast for the duration
of the meet in honour of a most likeable young airman.
