Margaret Salsman died
      of
cancer in January 2004. She was an avid gardener and glads were one of
her favorite flowers. Her husband Murray Salsman wanted to do something
in her memory, and having 3500 glads, decided to plant them in her
memory. This became known as Marg's Glad Garden.

      There were glads
in her casket spray and one was yellow with a red center. We call it the

      Glad of Hope.
It is our commemorative flower or a trade mark.

When Marg was going through treatment for cancer, there was a

      Cancer Care
      Patient Navigator

who helped her through the system. The
      Navigator
also helps other cancer patients and their families when they are
having financial problems as cancer does not discriminate between rich
and poor.

Starting with 3,500 bulbs, the garden has grown to include
    9,000 bulbs this
year. To date, over $10,000 has been raised to help other cancer patients.

    All money collected
stays in the local area to help cancer patients and their families

It's mandate is to financially assist

      Kings and
      Annapolis County
cancer patients and their families who are experiencing financial distress
due to the high cost of cancer drugs and treatments. Assistance can be in
many forms such as transport subsidy for medical reasons or special needs.
      None of the money is
used for administration or research, it all goes to help cancer patients
and their families through the Cancer Care Patient Navigator who was so
helpful to Marg during her illness.
