Heavy
cloud and haze all day with an attempt at dissipation towards
evening, becoming quite clear in the late evening. Operations were out
of the question which was corroborated by the weather recce carried
out in the afternoon. The 7th Victory Loan Campaign has been extended
from 26 October to the 4th november. To date we have sold bonds to the
extent of $ 16,200.00 and although the Wing summary quoted our figure
as being short of this total, we nevertheless believe that we have
taken the lead in sales. J.35843 F/O J.D. Sweeney, a pilot, was posted
in today from 83 G.S.U. and is from Sturgis,
Michigan, USA. J.
4884 F/L H.K. McAvity, who landed in the sea off the coast of
Scotland on 10.2.44, is now officially dead as advised by B.P.S.O.

of Sortie or Flight
F/O
Fraser took-off with F/O J. Carr as number two, to do a weather
recce over target area. They flew north meeting a large bank of
cumulus and cumulus/*******
just north of the field. They climbed above this and crossed the
Rhine towards Utrecht. The weather became worse towards the
north, so they turned around and returned flying under cloud
base at 4000 feet. They met considerable light flak at this
height north of the Rhine. They reported the weather not
suitable for operations.
