Major
Saucier then requests permission of his Excellency to proceed with the
traditional march-past. Catching his aides and security chief completely
by surprise, his Excellency invited both Col (H) Daigle (left) and
Col Mattews (right) to share the dais with him for the traditional
march past and salute, a extremely rare if not unique royal
gesture underlining to all, the high regard His Excellency had for these
two fine Gentlemen.
You
can bet that the Squadron had the sharpest march past in the history of
the Air force, when in one swoop, we could not only pay our compliments to
our Commander-in-Chief, his Excellency, the Governor General, but to our
first ever Honourary Colonel, Col (H) George Daigle and the Commander of
the Desert Cats, and former CO of 439 Squadron, Col Don Mattews.
