Bob
Lawrence scored two more victories on New Year's day 1945 when the
Luftwaffe made its last major fighter attack of the war. With three
companions Lawrence was returning from a weather recce over the American
battlefront when the four Typhoons intercepted a large formation of German
fighters returning from a strafe on Eindhoven. Laurence brought down two
FS-190s, one of which was flown by the leader of the enemy formation, and
F/O A.H. Fraser destroyed two more Focke-Wulfs. In the action F/O Samuel
Angelini was shot down and killed.
