Once
the DCO resumes his former position, the CO orders the Squadron to adopt
a Hollow Square formation. The rear ranks of both flights turn
respectively left or right and march out perpendicular to either side of
the front rank, and on command, turn inwards to the parade. Then with
headdress removed, the CO, on behalf of 439 Squadron, formally requests
the Chaplain General to consecrate and dedicate the standard.
The
Chaplain General accompanied by the Wing Chaplains Pardre's Turcotte and
Vaillancourt, then proceed to the altar and, in a moving religious
ceremony beseech the Almighty to grant His protection and blessing to the
men and women of the Squadron and as symbolized in the Battle Honours
emblazoned on the Standard, and then the CO taking the lead, rededicates
the Squadron's allegiance to Canada.
